About MotorSportRadar | Why We Built The Best Race Companion
MotorSportRadar logo

MotorSportRadar.com is an independent motorsport calendar built to make race times easier to find, understand, and trust.

It brings together the practical details fans often need: what is racing, where it is happening, and when it starts in their own local time.

Why it exists

Motorsport is easy to enjoy, but the calendar can be awkward to follow. Different championships publish schedules in different places, across different time zones, with different session formats and race weekends.

The idea behind MotorSportRadar.com had been around for a few years: create a simpler place to see what is coming up and when it starts locally.

In May 2025, Michael Dowling wanted to watch the 6 Hours of Spa and checked an AI-generated search summary for the start time. The time zone conversion was wrong, and the race had already started. That frustration became the push to build the site properly.

Who built it

MotorSportRadar.com was created by Michael Dowling, a software engineer from Ireland with an interest in motorsport, technology, design, and making fun webapps.

After studying in Galway, Michael worked as a software engineer on APIs and web applications using Java and JavaScript. He later moved into project management across telecoms, banking, financial compliance, software agency work, and surveying.

The site brings together several of those interests: software, data, design, and racing. It follows other independent projects such as Dunlaing Watches.

Design Influence

The visual identity takes inspiration from the classic Subaru World Rally Team colours: navy, gold, and cherry red.

It is a small nod to rallying and to an era associated with drivers such as Colin McRae, Richard Burns, Carlos Sainz Sr., and Petter Solberg.

MotorSportRadar.com is supported by Dunlaing Watches, another project founded by Michael Dowling. The site also uses selected affiliate links, including Stay22 and NordVPN.

Advertising approach

Motorsport websites can become difficult to use when they are crowded with pop-ups, auto-playing videos, heavy ad placements, and layouts that make information harder to find.

MotorSportRadar.com aims to keep the page experience simple, readable, and focused on race information.

What comes next

The site is still growing. The aim is to add broader series coverage, better circuit and event pages, and more useful personal calendar features for fans who follow different types of racing.
