When was the track built?
Plans for racing at Morgan Park began during the 1960s through the Warwick District Sporting Car Club. A course was graded in 1968 and the first race meeting followed in March 1969. The venue's official opening came in October 1970.
Morgan Park was originally a much simpler circuit than the one used today. Major development arrived in the late 1990s when the track was sealed with bitumen. It was later extended to 2.1 km in 2002, before another major expansion created the approximately 3 km Circuit K. The longer layout entered national competition in 2010 and became the venue's main circuit.
When was its first race?
The first race meeting was held in March 1969 on the early unsealed circuit. Morgan Park was still a basic regional venue at the time, relying heavily on the work of local club members and volunteers.
That community involvement has remained an important part of the circuit's identity as it has grown from a small club track into a venue capable of hosting major Australian racing categories.
What's the circuit like?
- Tight and technical: Morgan Park has very little time for drivers or riders to relax. Corners arrive quickly, so rhythm, accurate braking and good positioning are important.
- Plenty of elevation: The circuit rises and falls through the surrounding landscape. Turn 3 is a particularly challenging blind left-hander, while the faster back section makes the track feel much quicker than its compact size suggests.
- Good overtaking opportunities: Turn 4 is a heavy braking zone and one of the more obvious places to make a move. A strong exit from Turn 7 is also important because it leads into one of the fastest sections of the lap.
Morgan Park is often described as a rider and driver circuit: outright power helps, but knowing where to position the vehicle and linking corners together cleanly can make a major difference.

Warwick is only a few minutes from the track, making it easy to combine a race weekend with a visit to the town and surrounding Southern Downs region.
Where's the best place to watch?
- Main straight and Turn 1: A good choice for first-time visitors, with race starts, pit activity and the opening corners all nearby.
- Turn 4: One of the circuit's main heavy-braking areas and a strong place to watch overtaking attempts.
- Turns 7-9: The faster side of Morgan Park. A good exit from Turn 7 leads riders and drivers into a quick, undulating section where you can appreciate the circuit's speed.
Spectator access can change between events, so check the event map and permitted viewing areas when you arrive.

Getting to Morgan Park Raceway (Warwick, Queensland)
Morgan Park Raceway is just outside Warwick in Queensland's Southern Downs. Driving or hiring a car is the easiest way to arrive, although direct coaches from Brisbane make a car-free journey possible with a taxi or pickup for the final section.
Driving & parking (easiest way)
- From Brisbane: travel through Ipswich and follow the Cunningham Highway towards Warwick. From Warwick, continue south towards Old Stanthorpe Road and Morgan Park.
- From Toowoomba: head south towards Warwick, then follow navigation to 228 Old Stanthorpe Rd.
- From Warwick: Morgan Park is only a few minutes from the town centre, making Warwick the easiest place to stay.
- Parking: car parking is available within the Morgan Park precinct. Follow event signs because spectator, competitor and trailer areas can change between meetings.
Tip: Navigate specifically to Morgan Park Raceway. The wider Morgan Park precinct contains several different sporting facilities.
Coach & public transport
- Brisbane → Warwick: Crisps Coaches operates scheduled services between Brisbane and Warwick.
- Warwick → circuit: there is no regular public bus directly to Morgan Park Raceway, so arrange a taxi, hotel pickup or lift for the final journey.
- Return journey: organise your ride back into Warwick before an evening event finishes rather than relying on transport being immediately available.
- By train: do not plan a normal race-day journey around rail, as Warwick does not have a regular passenger train service suitable for circuit visitors.
For most visitors without their own car, coach to Warwick followed by a pre-arranged local ride is the simplest option.
